Logging into Lightstream for the first time may be a bit overwhelming with how many permissions are requested. Most permissions are used to do simple things like updating your stream info, while some are merely bundled in with permissions we require to put you live with the press of a button. In the spirit of transparency, here’s the permissions we require and what we do with them:
Twitch
- Email address
- Required to set up your Lightstream account
- Stream Key
- Required to go live on your channel
- Update channel title, game & status
- Used to update your channel’s game and title
- Cut VOD’s, Run commercials on your channel, & Reset your stream key
- These permissions are bundled with access to your stream key and will never be used by Lightstream
- Log into chat and send messages
- Used to get your chatter and viewer count
- Get a list of all subscribers to your channel
- Used for subscriber count
Beam
- Stream Key
- Required to go live on your channel
- Update channel settings
- Used to update your channel’s game and title
- View your channel analytics
- Used for subscriber and follower counts
- Interact with chats on your behalf & Connect to chat
- Used to get your chatter and viewer count
- View your user analytics
- This permission is bundled with access to your stream key and will never be used by Lightstream
- View your email address
- Required to set up your Lightstream account
Facebook – Denying ANY of these prevents you from going live at all. All permissions we request are required but aren’t utilized unless a user chooses to use them.
- Public profile
- This is used to create a live stream using your Facebook account
- Email address
- This is required to set up your Lightstream account
- Events
- This is used to stream to any events you’re part of on your Facebook profile
- Ability to post to Facebook
- This is required so that you’re able to stream to any of the destinations you select
- Manage Pages
- This is required to start a stream on any pages that you’re an admin or owner of.
- Manage Groups
- This is required to start a stream to any groups that you’re an admin or owner of.
